This cozy quilt, pre-washed to add some soft wrinkles, comfort and warmth, is the happy accident of the quilt maker who cut way too many strips of beige and red fabrics as she was working on another project! An original happy creation indeed!

This cozy quilt is creatively stitched with three strips to form 3” by 3” patches that are then alternately placed perpendicular to each other, forming the rhythmic display of colors. Touches of red are interspersed in the little patches to form the little red rails that gives the quilt its name.

Although there is a dominance of beige in this quilt, there is nothing “neutral” about the feeling that comes when the quilt is laid across a piece of furniture….instead a room is immediately brightened by the touch of red that compliments every color in the rainbow! Each of the twelve different beige fabrics adds its own personality with the tiny little prints that lay on top of each of their backgrounds-
lending much movement to the cozy creation.

The backing for this piece is tan with a hint of just enough red in tone to be a perfect blend with the little red rails that boldly march across the front of the quilt. The overall beige backing contains a slightly darker tone of very slight diagonal lines and very small, delicate shadows of leaves to finish the comfortable feel of the whole quilt.

A new Quilt Keeper is bound to receive many compliments.
