At first glance, this quilt is interesting to look at; however at second glance, it is VERY interesting!
The artist, Sharon Betts, created an open canvas in the middle of the quilt. In that open canvas, she chose an earth-tone variegated quilting thread to develop a myriad of leaf images based on the fabric pattern that forms the backing of the quilt!
The main surface of the front of the quilt is a golden-colored batik with shades of rust and beige that creeate the texture base for the quilted leaves!
The additional colors on the front of the quilt comprise a muted green batik that offers subtle shading for the inner border of triangles that also include the binding and backing colors for the entire quilt!
Easy on the eye and yet intriguing use of fabric to make the ready-to-hang wall hanging, with the sleeve already attached to the back.
