This is the perfectly wonderful little quilt for snuggling as you read favorite stories to the little ones about barnyard animals or learn the sounds they all make while pointing out each one in turn.

This clever pattern started out as the traditional favorite Log Cabin block. Then the delightful cow print corner squares to each block jumped in to echo the images of the comical cows in the fabric pictures. Every block has a tiny 3D, stand-up border around the center pictures. Many pictures and blocks are different sizes from tiny to large and they are randomly placed in the quilt top. Finally, each block was carefully stitched so when turned “just so” the red and green fabrics go together to create long eye-catching stripes across the entire top of the quilt. The backing and hand-applied binding are all done in the delightful spotted cow print fabric.

The quilt maker used bright, youthful prints in blues, greens, reds, yellows and of course black and white to make this cute piece a one-of-a-kind. The pictures in the middle were “fussy” cut to tell just the right stories, showcasing all the amazing and important animals found on a farm. Chickens, pigs, sheep, dogs, frogs, cats, bunnies, mice and cows are all there. Each will need to be named and stories imagined and told as the years go along and this piece becomes a cherished keepsake for the little ones!

This quilt is perfect to give as a baby gift, to be used in your own nursery, or have on hand when grandchildren visit.

As with all things for children, this little quilt can easily be washed on cool temperatures and dried on gentle in the drier without any concerns.
