Carefully crafted, many of the images seem to lift away from background on the quilt-this is done with extra “padding” inserted in sections of the quilt by using a technique known as trapunto. And to add extra dimension to the surface of the quilt, there is a narrow black and white border that outlines each block to further accent each bug or bloom!

Beyond the exquisite detail in the machine applique of each piece to the background, the quilting that creates the texture in the background to each image is also magnificently done with very small, delicate stitching.
