Ah, the beautiful batiks used in this quilt can’t help but take the mind to those sunny, breezy days at an ocean-front beach! First there’s the coolness of the ocean spray as it sweeps onto the sandy beach area, then the warmth of the sun begins to make its mark on the day.
This quilt creates quick images that dash from the sun, to the water, to the sun, and to warmth of the sandy beach again as the colors of the small squares set inside larger squares, comprised of two colors, keep the senses alert and poised for any change in the air or in the heat from the sun!
This is simply one of those “very fun” quilts created by the quiltmaker who enjoys the brightness of lime greens, the boldness of purple, the warmth of oranges and yellows, and many shades of blue all mixed together to create the movement in the quilt.
The quilt is sized to serve as a bedspread for a double or queen size bed, and it would be a perfect addition to a west-coast beach house where all these colors seem to collide when the sun, the sand, the sky, and the waters all touch the spirit at one time!
