Amish Double Wedding Ring, Raffle Quilt

Or, maybe this traditional quilt design would quickly be adopted by any member of a large family just as it would become the focal point in any home.The Double Wedding Ring quilt design, named because of the intertwining circles of many small fabric patches, symbolizing the union of two people, is enhanced in beauty by the gentle scalloped edging that duplicates the circular patterns on the quilt. Made by the Amish in Dundee, Ohio, this is both hand-pieced and hand quilted with white thread. The colors vary, with emphasis on burgundies, greens, dusty shades of blues, reds, golds, and other jewel-tones. As with most Amish work, the stitching has been done magnificently, emphasizing the circular pattern of the rings. In the center of each of the circles the hand-quilted stitching forms a pattern of united hearts to lend even more attention to the love associated with this beautiful quilt. The quilt is large, so it would easily cover a queen size bed as a spread, or it would fit a king size bed as a comforter.
